The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned the use of eight artificial food additives, including Red Dye No. 3, potassium bromate, and brominated vegetable oil, due to their links to health issues such as cancer, nervous system damage, and hyperactivity in children. This decision, effective immediately, follows years of advocacy from consumer groups and aligns the U.S. with the European Union, which has already banned these additives. The FDA's move aims to enhance public health by eliminating these potentially harmful substances from the food supply, prompting food manufacturers to reformulate products to comply with the new regulations.
