Another Darien Gas Station To Sell Beer, Wine

The Darien City Council has approved a request from the Thorntons gas station located at 7501 Lemont Road to sell beer and wine, marking it the second gas station in Darien to receive such approval. This decision follows a similar approval for the Shell gas station at 2000 75th Street earlier in the year. The approval for Thorntons came with a 4-2 vote, reflecting some division among council members. The station will be allowed to sell packaged beer and wine, but not liquor, and must adhere to specific conditions set by the city, including restrictions on sales hours and the requirement to maintain a certain level of inventory. This move is seen as a response to customer demand and an effort to stay competitive with other local businesses.
