A ransomware attack targeted the IT systems of the UK's largest food supplier, affecting operations at the Co-op and M&S Food. The attack, which occurred on the evening of June 26, 2023, was carried out by the Black Basta gang, known for targeting large organizations. The breach led to significant disruptions, including the inability to fulfill orders and the temporary closure of some Co-op stores. The supplier, believed to be the largest fresh produce supplier in the UK, confirmed the attack and stated that they are working with cybersecurity experts to resolve the issue and restore systems. The incident has raised concerns about the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to cyber threats.
