First MAHA health report calls for reassessing medicines, processed foods, pesticides

The first-ever Maha Health Report, released by the Maharashtra government in collaboration with the Public Health Department and the Directorate of Health Services, highlights the state's health status and calls for urgent action to address critical health issues. The report, covering data from 2015 to 2020, reveals that non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer are on the rise, contributing to 63% of total deaths in the state. It also points out the increasing prevalence of mental health disorders, with depression and anxiety affecting a significant portion of the population. The report emphasizes the need for improved healthcare infrastructure, better access to quality healthcare services, and increased awareness and prevention programs to tackle these health challenges effectively.
