U.S. health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on Wednesday that the "central focus" of the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration will be on studying ultra-processed foods, sugars and food additives. "The central focus of NIH, is going to be looking at - and FDA - looking at ultra-processed foods, and sugars, and the 10,000 additives that are in our ," Kennedy said during a Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions hearing.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are intensifying their focus on the health impacts of processed foods, as highlighted in a recent article on Yahoo News. This initiative comes in response to growing concerns about the role of ultra-processed foods in contributing to chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
