The Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry is asking for help from the community. Whether it's becoming a monthly donor or volunteering, the food pantry is doing what it can to ensure it stays ahead of food shortage concerns, the nonprofit said in a news release.
The Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, located in Elgin, Texas, is facing a critical situation as it struggles to meet the increased demand for food assistance due to rising food prices and the end of additional SNAP benefits. The pantry, which serves around 300 families weekly, is experiencing a significant drop in donations and is in urgent need of food and financial contributions to continue its operations. Volunteers and staff are working tirelessly to keep the pantry stocked, but the situation remains dire, with the pantry's director, Linda Smith, emphasizing the immediate need for community support to prevent turning away those in need.
