The South Portland Food Cupboard has found a new place to call home.

The South Portland Food Cupboard has relocated to a new, larger facility at 130 Thadeus St., previously occupied by the South Portland Public Library, to better serve the increasing number of people facing food insecurity in Maine. The move, supported by a $100,000 donation from the City of South Portland and additional funds from the Maine Community Foundation, allows the food cupboard to expand its services, including offering more fresh produce and operating a community kitchen for cooking classes and community meals. This relocation comes at a critical time as Maine continues to grapple with high levels of food insecurity, exacerbated by the economic impacts of the recent global health crisis, with one in six Mainers, including one in four children, experiencing food insecurity.
