The High Street chain is trialling moving its self-serve goods to crack down on shoplifting.

Greggs, a popular British bakery chain, has shifted its food offerings behind counters in all of its 2,450 stores to enhance customer service and reduce food waste. This change, initially trialed in 10 stores, aims to keep food fresher for longer and allow staff to serve customers more efficiently. The move comes as part of a broader strategy to improve the overall customer experience, with Greggs also planning to introduce new menu items and extend its operating hours. The company reported that the trial was successful in reducing waste and increasing customer satisfaction, prompting the nationwide rollout.
