Gainesville letter carriers collect food during "Stamp out Hunger Food Drive"

  • The Gainesville food pantries benefiting this year include Food for Kids and Catholic Charities.

On May 10, 2025, the Gainesville letter carriers participated in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, collecting non-perishable food items to help combat hunger in the community. Residents were encouraged to leave bags of food by their mailboxes, which were then picked up by postal workers and donated to local food banks and pantries, including Bread of the Mighty. This event, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, is the nation's largest single-day food drive and plays a crucial role in supporting food-insecure families, especially during the summer months when school meal programs are not available.
