Eating a variety of flavonoid-rich foods like tea, apples and berries may cut the risk of early death by 20 percent.
A study published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine and discussed in Newsweek highlights that consuming fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and legumes can significantly reduce the risk of early death. The research, which analyzed data from over 120,000 participants across multiple countries, found that a daily intake of 500 grams of fruits and vegetables, 25 grams of nuts, and 50 grams of legumes, along with whole grains, was associated with a lower mortality risk. Specifically, the study showed that these foods could decrease the likelihood of dying from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and respiratory diseases. The findings underscore the importance of a balanced diet rich in plant-based foods for promoting longevity and health.
