"We need to get in, and we need to get in at scale," Cindy McCain said.

The World Food Programme (WFP) Director, David Beasley, has urged for increased funding to address the escalating global hunger crisis, warning that without immediate action, the world could face multiple famines of unprecedented scale in 2023. Speaking at the U.N. Security Council, Beasley highlighted that acute hunger is on the rise, with 44 million people in 38 countries at risk of falling into famine, exacerbated by conflicts, climate change, and the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed the need for $23 billion to assist 146 million people, emphasizing that failure to act could lead to mass migration, destabilized nations, and increased terrorism, and called on donor countries to step up their contributions to prevent a catastrophic humanitarian disaster.
