Israel plans new control of food and supplies in Gaza

The United Nations and major groups currently running aid operations in Gaza, briefed by Israel on the plans, said they would not cooperate with the plans.

Israel has announced plans to implement a new system for controlling the flow of food and essential supplies into Gaza, aiming to address security concerns while ensuring humanitarian needs are met. The proposed system involves a centralized distribution hub where all incoming goods will be inspected and then distributed to designated areas within Gaza. This move comes amid ongoing tensions and a blockade that has severely restricted the movement of goods into the region. Critics argue that the new system could further tighten Israel's control over Gaza, potentially exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. However, Israeli officials maintain that the measures are necessary to prevent the smuggling of weapons and other contraband, and they have pledged to work with international aid organizations to minimize disruptions to essential services.
