The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency (FSA) is facing allegations of racial bias and retaliation against employees who raised concerns about discrimination, according to a report by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC). The OSC investigation found that FSA staff were warned against speaking to investigators and were subjected to a hostile work environment, with some employees experiencing retaliation for reporting discrimination. The report highlighted issues such as the FSA's failure to address complaints of racial bias, the use of offensive language, and the agency's lack of cooperation with the investigation. The OSC has recommended that the USDA take immediate action to address these issues and ensure a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees.
