At least 10 people have fallen ill due to a salmonella outbreak linked to ground beef products sold at ShopRite stores in several states, as reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service. The affected products, produced on March 28, 2023, by Lakeside Refrigerated Services, include 80% lean ground beef and ground beef chuck in various sizes, all bearing the establishment number "EST. 46841" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Consumers are urged to check their freezers for these items and either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. The outbreak has affected individuals in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, with symptoms including diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, and the USDA is continuing its investigation into the source of the contamination.
