  • Americans from all walks of life say they are struggling to eat healthy due to rising food prices, a new survey found.

According to a recent survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a significant majority of Americans, about 9 out of 10, have noticed an increase in food prices over the past year, with many feeling that these prices are excessively high. The survey, conducted between March 16-20, 2023, revealed that 6 out of 10 Americans believe that food companies are primarily responsible for these high prices, rather than attributing them to factors like supply chain issues or the war in Ukraine. Additionally, the survey found that 4 out of 10 Americans have reduced their spending on non-essentials due to the rising cost of food, and a similar proportion have switched to cheaper food options. This widespread concern about food prices is set against a backdrop of overall economic unease, with many Americans feeling pessimistic about the country's economic future.
