  • The FDA and CDC are recalling cucumbers sold across 19 states due to Salmonella contamination. Some parts of Canada have also been impacted and so far, there are a total of 68 confirmed infections
  • including 18 hospitalizations.

SunFed has issued a recall for cucumbers potentially contaminated with Salmonella, as reported by the FDA. The affected cucumbers were distributed between May 17 and May 21, 2024, across 14 states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The recall was initiated after the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture detected Salmonella in a sample. Consumers are advised to check their fridges for these cucumbers, which are dark green, approximately 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter, and 5 to 9 inches long, and either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. No illnesses have been reported yet, but Salmonella can cause severe symptoms, particularly in vulnerable populations like children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
