The bill, proposed by Senators Sharif Street and Dan Laughlin, aimed to establish a regulated market for cannabis, impose a 12% excise tax, and allocate tax revenue towards various state programs. Despite the setback, the bill's sponsors remain optimistic about future prospects, citing growing public support for legalization and the potential economic benefits, such as job creation and increased tax revenue.
