Local farmers, food organizations in limbo after federal food grant program ends

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $9.3 million grant to a coalition of Massachusetts farmers and food organizations, including the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project and the Franklin County Community Development Corporation, to enhance local food systems. This funding, part of the federal government's initiative to strengthen food supply chains, will support projects aimed at increasing the production and distribution of locally grown food, improving food access in underserved communities, and fostering sustainable agricultural practices.
