David Andrews Releases Cookbook to Benefit Food Bank
WILX-TVLocale: UNITED STATES

Mount Pleasant, MI - March 9th, 2026 - WILX News 10's beloved anchor, David Andrews, is trading in the teleprompter for a spatula with the release of his new cookbook, "David's Delights." The book, officially launched today, offers a glimpse into Andrews' culinary world and, more importantly, provides a delicious way for the community to support the Mid-Michigan Food Bank.
For 24 years, David Andrews has been a familiar face in Mid-Michigan homes, delivering the news with unwavering professionalism and a warm, approachable demeanor. While known for his reporting, many colleagues and viewers were unaware of Andrews' deep-seated passion for cooking and entertaining. "David's Delights" aims to change that, showcasing a diverse collection of recipes developed over years of personal experimentation and perfected for gatherings with family and friends.
The cookbook isn't simply a compilation of recipes; it's a narrative journey through Andrews' life, with each dish accompanied by a personal anecdote or story. Readers can expect to find everything from quick and easy appetizers perfect for impromptu gatherings to more elaborate entrees suitable for special occasions, and of course, a tempting selection of desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth. Early previews indicate a surprising range of cuisines are represented, hinting at Andrews' adventurous palate and willingness to experiment with flavors.
But the sweetest ingredient in "David's Delights" isn't sugar or spice - it's the book's philanthropic purpose. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will be donated to the Mid-Michigan Food Bank, a critical resource serving individuals and families facing food insecurity across the region. With food bank usage remaining consistently high even after the economic fluctuations of the early 2020s, the timing of this fundraiser couldn't be better.
"I've always believed in the importance of giving back to the community that has supported me for so many years," Andrews stated. "When I considered ways to combine my passion for cooking with a desire to help those in need, the idea of a cookbook benefiting the Mid-Michigan Food Bank felt like a natural fit. It's a way to share something I love with our viewers and make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors."
According to recent statistics from Feeding America, the national parent organization for the Mid-Michigan Food Bank, over 34 million people, including 9 million children, face food insecurity in the United States. The pandemic exacerbated this issue, and while some assistance programs have expired, the need remains significant. The Food Bank estimates that each dollar donated can provide up to four meals to those in need.
"We are incredibly grateful to David Andrews for his generous support," said Sarah Miller, Executive Director of the Mid-Michigan Food Bank. "This cookbook is not only a wonderful addition to any kitchen, but it also represents a significant boost to our ability to provide nutritious food to families struggling with hunger. We hope the community will enthusiastically support this initiative."
"David's Delights" is available for purchase online at https://wilx.com/ and at the WILX News 10 office located in Mount Pleasant. The station is planning a special "cooking with David" segment on tonight's 6 PM newscast, where Andrews will demonstrate one of the recipes from the book and discuss the importance of supporting the Mid-Michigan Food Bank. The station is also encouraging viewers to share their own culinary creations using the hashtag #DavidsDelights on social media. Initial reports suggest pre-orders have been strong, and the station anticipates a quick sell-out of the first printing. Beyond the cookbook, WILX is exploring other fundraising opportunities with Andrews in the coming months, including a possible cooking demonstration event open to the public.
