Concord, NH - February 25th, 2026 - Greater Concordians for Diversity (GCD) today announced the launch of its 'Beyond the Barriers' calendar for March 2026, alongside a comprehensive month-long initiative designed to foster inclusivity and celebrate the resilience of individuals within the Concord community. The calendar, which goes on sale tomorrow, February 26th, serves as a cornerstone of a broader effort to promote understanding, acceptance, and equity for all.

This year's 'Beyond the Barriers' calendar isn't simply a collection of dates; it's a powerful tapestry of personal narratives. Each page features an individual from diverse backgrounds who has navigated and overcome significant obstacles. GCD meticulously selected these stories to showcase the breadth of experiences within Concord, moving beyond typical representations of diversity to highlight challenges related to socio-economic status, physical ability, neurodiversity, immigration status, and more. The organization hopes these intimate accounts will resonate deeply with the community, sparking empathy and meaningful conversations.

"We believe that everyone deserves to be seen and heard, and that understanding comes from shared stories," explained Eleanor Vance, GCD's Executive Director. "This calendar isn't about pity or inspiration porn; it's about recognizing the strength and ingenuity of people who have faced adversity and created positive change, either in their own lives or within our community. It's about dismantling the 'othering' that often fuels prejudice."

But the calendar is just the beginning. Throughout March, GCD will host a series of events and workshops directly tied to the themes explored in the 'Beyond the Barriers' project. These include:

  • Community Storytelling Nights (Weekly): Intimate gatherings where individuals featured in the calendar, and others from the community, will share their stories live. These events will be intentionally small to encourage genuine connection and dialogue.
  • Inclusive Workplace Training (March 10th & 17th): Workshops designed for local businesses and organizations, focusing on creating more equitable and inclusive work environments. The training will address unconscious bias, accessibility considerations, and strategies for fostering a culture of belonging.
  • Accessibility Audit Workshop (March 15th): A hands-on workshop guiding participants on how to assess public spaces and digital platforms for accessibility challenges, promoting a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
  • Youth Empowerment Summit (March 22nd): A day-long summit for Concord's youth, focusing on topics such as allyship, conflict resolution, and social justice. The summit will feature interactive workshops and guest speakers.
  • 'Beyond the Barriers' Film Screening & Discussion (March 29th): A screening of a documentary highlighting local initiatives focused on breaking down barriers for marginalized communities, followed by a panel discussion with community leaders.

Proceeds from the calendar sales will directly support GCD's ongoing community programs, including its free English as a Second Language classes, mentorship initiatives for at-risk youth, and accessibility upgrades to local community centers. GCD is also partnering with several local businesses to offer discounts to calendar purchasers, incentivizing support for the organization and fostering a sense of community collaboration.

The 'Beyond the Barriers' initiative builds upon GCD's five-year commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in Concord. Founded in 2021, GCD has become a vital resource for individuals and organizations seeking to create a more equitable community. Past initiatives have included the "Harmony in Concord" cultural festival, the "Dialogue Across Differences" series of workshops, and the establishment of a community resource center offering support services to marginalized populations.

"We've seen a growing awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion in recent years, but awareness isn't enough," Vance added. "We need to translate that awareness into action, and that's what 'Beyond the Barriers' is all about - empowering individuals, fostering understanding, and creating a community where everyone feels valued and respected."

The 'Beyond the Barriers' calendar is available for purchase starting February 26th, 2026, at The Book Nook, Concord Community Center, and online at [invalid URL removed].
