The UK market is being flooded with convincing knock-offs of popular wines, says a leading fraud expert.

The UK is experiencing an influx of counterfeit wine, with fraudsters using advanced technology to produce fake labels and bottles that are difficult to distinguish from genuine products. According to a report by the Sunday Times, the problem has become so widespread that it is affecting both high-end and budget wines, with some counterfeit bottles even making their way into reputable restaurants and wine merchants. The issue is not only limited to wine, as fake spirits and beers are also circulating in the market. The UK's Food Standards Agency has warned consumers to be vigilant and check for signs of counterfeit products, such as misspellings on labels, unusual packaging, and suspiciously low prices. The agency is working with law enforcement and industry partners to crack down on the counterfeiters and protect consumers from being duped.
