Atlanta's airport might be busy with thousands of flyers, but Food & Wine says it is one of the best airports to be at while you wait. Here's why.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is poised to reclaim its title as the world's busiest airport in 2023, having been surpassed by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China in 2022 due to China's earlier recovery from the global health crisis. Atlanta's airport, which has held the top spot for over two decades, saw a significant increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2023, with 21.4 million passengers compared to Guangzhou's 16.3 million. This resurgence is attributed to the lifting of travel restrictions and a strong recovery in domestic travel within the U.S., while international travel, particularly to and from China, has been slower to rebound due to ongoing restrictions and a slower recovery in the Chinese market.
