Atlanta's airport, which has held the top spot for over two decades, saw a significant increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2023, with 21.4 million passengers compared to Guangzhou's 16.3 million. This resurgence is attributed to the lifting of travel restrictions and a strong recovery in domestic travel within the U.S., while international travel, particularly to and from China, has been slower to rebound due to ongoing restrictions and a slower recovery in the Chinese market.
