  • People at a popular tourist spot in Osceola County were running for their lives Wednesday night after deputies say a Checkers employee shot and killed a customer over a fast-food order. The restaurant was still closed on Thursday as crime scene tape blocked off the drive-through. Osceola County deputies arrested Elijah Mackey, 23, on Thursday in connection with the shooting.

An argument over a food order at a McDonald's in Moultrie, Georgia, escalated into a shooting, resulting in the deaths of the shooter, a woman, and a 9-year-old child. The incident occurred when the shooter, after arguing with the woman, left the restaurant, returned armed, and opened fire. The woman and child were fatally shot inside the restaurant, and the shooter was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the case, and the McDonald's location was closed following the tragedy.
