Home Affairs launches border management and immigration anti-corruption forum to tackle corruption

The South African Department of Home Affairs has launched the Border Management and Immigration Anti-Corruption Forum to address corruption within its ranks, particularly at border posts and in immigration services. This initiative was announced by Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, who emphasized the need for a corruption-free environment to enhance service delivery and integrity in border management. The forum aims to foster collaboration among various stakeholders including government departments, civil society, and international partners to develop strategies against corruption. This move comes in response to numerous reports of corruption, including bribery and fraudulent activities, which have undermined the department's operations and public trust. The forum's establishment is part of a broader effort to ensure that South Africa's borders are secure and that immigration processes are transparent and fair.
