The European Union has rebranded its "rearm Europe" plan to "industrial defense strategy" following criticism from Italy and Spain, who felt the original name suggested a return to Cold War-era militarization. The initiative, now aimed at enhancing the EU's defense capabilities, seeks to boost the European defense industry, promote joint procurement, and increase military spending in response to geopolitical tensions, particularly with Russia.
