  • Several Indian institutions have ranked highly in the 2025 QS Sustainability rankings released on Tuesday. The Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi and its Kanpur counterpart both ranked among the world's top 100 for environmental impact.

The QS World University Rankings for Sustainability 2024 have highlighted the global efforts of universities in addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur have notably made it into the top 100 universities worldwide for their environmental impact, ranking at 68th and 95th respectively. This ranking assesses universities based on their performance in areas like environmental research, sustainable education, and social impact. The University of Toronto leads the list, followed by the University of California, Berkeley, and The University of Manchester. Other Indian institutions like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Kharagpur also featured in the rankings, showcasing India's growing emphasis on sustainability in higher education. The rankings underscore the increasing importance of sustainability in academic institutions globally.
